- submitted by Carfrburlington on 05/14/2007

Burlington is awesome. It's gorgeous and clean and there's so much to do. I'm at the University of Vermont, and I love it here. Go Burlington. (We're fans of Burbia up here too by the way)

I'm also from Burlington.

- submitted by provermont on 05/15/2007

I'm also from Burlington. It's a great town. It's beautiful. You can do fantastic summer and winter sports, plus it's got good restaraunts and other things. People are civil, they're also smart and pretty mellow. I love it here, moved here 20 years ago from NYC and haven't looked back. LOL

Great town. It's near everything. Berkshires and climbing, also the oldest minor league baseball team, great community spirit. Check it out. Not too far from Boston either and beaches.

Pittsfield is great. It's in the mountains and you've got all these arts and meditation resources. It's a wonderful town. Kripalu that's the meditation yoga center, it's world renowned.

What is bend oregon? Burlington is beautiful. Pittsfield is OK. South Bend is Notre Dame, if you like that stuff. Bend? Somebody better weigh in on that one or I'd lose it. LOL

I live near Boston and Pittsfield is a good place, if you like outdoorsy stuff. It's near an awesome yoga center, Kripalu. I highly recommend it!

Burlington is the most

- submitted by transplantednewyorker on 05/22/2007

Burlington is the most beautiful city in the east. It's tiny, though. It's a town by normal standards. I'm from NYC and it took me a while to adjust but it's gorgeous and the people are wonderful and there's excellent food. The mountains and lake are sdomething too. I love it and wouldn't move anywhere else

Bend, OR

- submitted by Anonymous on 05/30/2007

It is a top location for snow skiing and summers are warm with wonderful mountain views.

Burlington rocks!

- submitted by Anonymous on 06/07/2007

I've been to all of the nominees, and I lived in Burlington while at the med school there. I think that the Queen City of Vermont wins this contest hands down. The town is beautifully situated, it is clean and safe, and Lake Champlain is just gorgeous. It just takes a few minutes to get out of town on some great bike rides (either road and mountain), and in the winter it is easy to find either XC, tele, or straight downhill runs. There's a decent live music scene, and the town has an actual living downtown area that is where most people prefer to shop as opposed to going to the mall. There are some pretty interesting restaurants, and the local produce is something I miss to this day. Its a great place -- I hope to be back someday.

burlington is nice but

burlington is nice but pittsfield is closer to civilization. pittsfield is the clear choice.

Bend response

- submitted by Anonymous on 09/07/2007

Bend is a great place to live if you don't mind an overpriced housing market and you don't ever want a high paying job.

Pittsfield?

- submitted by Anonymous on 08/20/2008

We recently moved from Pittsfield, MA for a number of reasons. This town has been struggling with the toxic dumping of PCB's by GE which has run it's plastics division up until just recently out of this city for decades. An elementary school was shut down two years ago after it was discovered the playground was built upon a PCB dumping ground. Many residents can not plant vegetable gardens in their soil based on their location to the contamination which spreads widely across the city. The local library holds annual meetings sponsored by the EPA, which we attended, to discuss with parents how to "manage" the risks posed to children growing up with this type of exposure. Pittsfield also has one of the highest lead poisoning rates in the country!

That being said, like others have mentioned the surrounding towns do have a lot to offer in the way of cultural and outdoor activities. Pittsfield itself has a lot of potential. Unfortunately GE has sold it's plastic's division to another international company and with that sale they leave behind a poisoned wake. I would be weary of raising children in a city where the soil is filled with toxins, the rivers run dirty, and the no one seems to be accountable.

BTW, Pittsfield is a SUPER FUND SITE!

Ithaca, New York

- submitted by Anonymous on 08/23/2008

I am surprised that no one mentioned Ithaca, NY. It has Cornell University, Thompkins County Community College, Ithaca College, Cayuga Lake, a beautiful downtown commons area with little shops and good food. It is the seat of the Dalai Lama in upstate New York. It has a large Tibetan community, a few Buddhist Centers, in addition to many other faith communities. There are gorges and waterfalls, beautiful hiking areas and bike riding paths. It has great music scene, a couple of museums, quaint neighborhoods of varying prices with some cute little homes all the up to big estates. It is a liberal town. It is close enough to NYC to be able to travel in for a day or weekend. It has an airport and trains going to and from it. It has a fantastic farmer's market in summer. It is a great place.

who would choose south bend

- submitted by Anonymous on 10/23/2008

there are several nice burbs in the state of indiana, but south bend sure isn't one them. dirty town, lots of bad areas, home to a great college doesn't make it a great place to be if you're not a student at notre dame.

Sorry, South Bend sucks

- submitted by Lisa on 01/09/2009

If you're into college towns, South Bend is the place to be. However, when I visited in the '90s, there were only a few restaurants downtown. The Holiday Inn, where I was stuck during a conference when the priests came to town and kicked me out of the on-campus inn, was the worst. Our luggage was piled in the lobby and sat there all day. At 9 p.m., I returned to my hotel and it was a 10-minute wait just to find a cart to get my luggage to a room. It was absolutely the worst traveling experience I've ever had.

South Bend

- submitted by Whoa Nelly on 01/12/2009

South Bend?? You're kidding right? Maybe in the 1940's when Studebaker was alive and there was actually a downtown that didn't look like Gaza n a good day, but otherwise it is dead and no one buried it. If you are not connected with Notre Dame in some fashion, fuggetaboutit....

Bend, Oregon?!

- submitted by Anonymous on 01/29/2009

I God, Woodrow - Nowhere in Oregon, the great trailer park of America, does there exist a town able to make this list, unless you enjoy being taxed on everything under the sun and proud to have a Guvna' who is only awakened for funerals and parades. (actually, he lives in New Plymouth, Idaho) And Bend? If you swill beer and mount your sister, then Bend is for you. Bend over, baby. --The Molalla Manic

Preschool colors

- submitted by Santosh on 08/04/2009

Hi guys. Well done is better than well said. I am from Bahrain and too poorly know English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "Preschool circle time songs kids songs are great for teaching kids and having fun while learning! Preschool songs help children keep beat and learn rythm, help them to focus on the meaning behind the song and help them to learn new words."

Waiting for a reply :-), Santosh.
