Best Towns- added on 06/20/2007![]() Burlington, VTWinner: Burbia's 1st 'Best Town' Competition In Burbia's most recent competition, Burlington won more votes than its rivals -- Pittsfield MA, South Bend IN, Bend OR. Stay tuned for Burbia's next competition -- next week. SEND IN YOUR NOMINEES! Meanwhile, congrats to Burlington. Why the Best: Spectacular beauty, great arts & culture, in one of the most comfortable, laid back 'civilized' towns in America. Burlington sits on Lake Champlain (awesome beauty, great boating, swimming, fishing). It's surrounded by the Green Mountains, offering the best in hiking, climbing, mountain biking, outdoor sports -- and minutes from the best skiing in the East. But Burlington is way more than physical beauty and choice rec-activities. It's the home of the University of VT. It has tons of great galleries, restaurants, clubs. It's got an active music scene (home of the band, Phish, among many other artists). And the people are smart, thoughtful, friendly and very decidedly not uptight rat-racers. People who settle in Burlington -- most anyway -- have their priorities straight. Many visited on vacation or other trips and decided simply to stay. Burlington is Vermont's biggest city, with a lot of the positives that go with it, but it's truly a town (fewer than 40,000 residents). It's absolutely worth a visit, in winter or summer -- of course in the Fall the leaves are classic-gorgeous. And it is unhesitatingly a Burbia Best Town....read about other towns markbecker ??Wed, 06/20/2007 ?? 12:08

Nothing beats this place. I've lived in NYC, LA, everywhere. When I came here it all felt right. The town is mellow and soft. at same time it is full of life. Don't know what the Burbia honor means but we'll take it! check out princeton. madison - submitted by jerseygirl on 06/23/2007
