Navel To Spine

Staying in shape, exercising, yoga-ing, mind-bodying . . . all good. But the latest trendy training mantra--suck in your "navel to your spine"--uh, no, thank you, we have to draw the line.

Manic Minutes are brought to you by Betsy Brint & Sally Higginson, host of the syndicated radio show Walking On Air. If you want to know more about the show check out their website.

I haven't heard this navel to spine before. I know if my trainer said it I'd probably kill him!

This is true. It's hard enough staying awake while I'm at the gym.

Sirs: The "navel to the spine" is basic to developing core strength as in Pilates or related exercise disciplines. Why didn't you research this before spouting off like an ignoramus?

How about touch your toes?

Forget navel to spine... I can't even touch my toes anymore! These instructors do this stuff for a living - they need to go easy on us poor soles who can't tie our shoes without moaning!

To the anonymous poster from 7/7, lighten up! Navel to spine may serve a purpose, but that's not the point of the audio, duh! If you can't get into humor or understand that most people, especially those running on fumes, find it hard to keep theirs eyes open in the morning, then get lost. I mean this in the most friendly and opening terms. LOL
