B-Rant- submitted by b-team on 08/04/2007![]() Landscapers Or Gardeners... How Can We Know?
Answer--Dear Stephen: If your gardener now wears a dirt-stained collared t-shirt when he cuts your grass and has a cell phone strapped to his cut-off shorts, instead of his former dirt-stained non-collared t-shirt with no visible attached cell, then he is a landscaper...unless he wears a bandana. In all circumstances obviously, a person claiming to be a landscaper who continues to wear a bandana while cutting your grass is lying about his status, and is in fact a gardener. ...read more rants If I wear a bandana and I'm - submitted by thefool on 08/04/2007
If I wear a bandana and I'm hanging on my lawn does that make me a gardener? Seriously this happened to - submitted by Anonymous on 08/04/2007
Seriously this happened to me. We were using these gardeners to mow our lawn. then one day they come in a new truck and tell us they're landscapers and want more money. We said, we're landscapers too, thank, we'll doo it ourselves. Landscapers are no different - submitted by Anonymous on 08/04/2007
Landscapers are no different than gardeners usually, they want more money like the rest of us. Funny. That's why we always - submitted by jilly on 08/04/2007

I'm not sure landscapers would wear baseball caps turned backwards onn their heads. Those are gardeneers too. Gardners - Landscapers - submitted by Anonymous on 08/10/2007
If they wear base ball caps backwards, have a case of Corona on the front seat of their 1976 Toyota pickup and don't speak English - then they are people who mowe lawns and cut hedges. Nothing more - nothing less. Hiring Gardners: Be Aware - submitted by Anonymous on 08/10/2007
Many of those who hire themselfs out as lawn cutters/hedge trimmers are from south of the border and are not licensed AND bonded to perform the work. Incidents have arisen when a homeowner hires these people. Somehow they manage to get themselfs "hurt". Many of them have contacts with organizations such as NCLR (National Councel of Laraza), and NCLR encourages the lawn cutters to file suits against Whites. They have absolutely nothing to loose and ALL to gain. You will always loose. You may will also be subjected to IRS scrutiny for failing to withold income taxes. The snownball gets bigger and bigger. Do you want them to live in (and OWN) your house ????? Ask for a business license and if they are bonded and have insurance. Thye should carry this ID with them. And match the name on this ID with their Driver's License. AND Confirm if they are licensed AND bonded before you put yourself in a wringer. People dont realize that - submitted by Anonymous on 08/10/2007
People dont realize that landscapers have to have a contractors license and thus pay for taxes and bonds. Gardeners are just random people looking to make a buck while hiding from the IRS. There is a big difference here and it's not very funny to Landscapers who work hard to start a business only to have some sniveling home owner hire an illegal worker from a different country. Sounds just like outsourcing except the customers are the big corporations and the gardeners are the cheap labor. Here's another way of - submitted by Gabrielle DeLuna on 08/16/2007
Here's another way of looking at it... stop complaining about undocumented workers claiming to be landscapers, or odd gardeners turned into high priced landscapers, and do the work your damn self. Don't have time to do it yourself??? a)fill your back yard with dirt or gravel... b)cement slab will do the trick c)let weeds overtake your yard and become the ugliest house on the block. or d)move to an apartment :) Beauty is pain, and in this case that equals shelling out the cash to have SOMEONE ELSE take care of YOUR property. Am I landscaper? NO. I am just a mother of 3 who works in the corporate world and lives on 2 acres who actually makes time with my husband to take care of our home... That's what we call a homeowner. |
