Frances Gabe
Inventor of First (and Only) Fully Self-Cleaning House

Think your self-cleaning oven is good? Try Frances' house. Every room has its own wash, rinse and dry cycle. All furniture is made of water proof material. And literally all you have to do is press a button and your closets seal and spin dry your clothes on their hangers; your cupboards shut and your dishes are cleaned on their shelves; and the only (tiny) downside -- living pretty much in a hermetically sealed washing-machine-like space module 24/7 -- is offset by the wonders of never having to use a vacuum cleaner or dish rag again. Seriously Gabe, who's been honored by MIT as one of America's leading women inventors, has lived in her bare bones prototype house in Oregon for years; and she's continuing to improve and expand the concept for hoped-for mass market use. Let's hope she succeeds soon, like next week -- before our dishwasher and clothes dryer break down (again)....Learn about more heroes.
