B-Rant- submitted by taylordog on 02/04/2007![]() Forget Deer, End Invisible Dog Fences! How many times am I going to have to walk past a yard with an "invisible fence" and have the dog come at me? Other posts are worried about deer? How about dogs who charge through these non-existent fences? They bite people, crap on yards, get run over by trucks. Deer? They just get run over. In my town, every house with a pet is now putting these supposed fencesĀ up. Across the street the other day, a dog ran through one, got hit by a car, got up and ran down the street and was hit by a truck. Two dogs attacked mailmen, BEFORE they got inside the yard. Are these pet owners TRYING to get their dogs killed or running loose? ...read more rants yo, invisible fences are - submitted by Anonymous on 02/04/2007

my town is considering banning them. they don't always work. ask my next door neighbor. her dog ran through it couple days after they put it up, got hit by a car. dog was in a head bandage for months, limps, not pretty. i don't user rotatry phones. - submitted by taylordog on 02/04/2007

who cares about barking and invisble fences. what i want to stop are all my neighbors dogs from pooping on my yard. most of the time these are leashed dogs, and the people just let them do it. not that's an outrage. true story - submitted by kev on 02/04/2007
was walking down my street and this massive dog behind an invisible fence starts charging. like cujo. he's coming from 100+ feet, running start. it's a sprint. i'm thinking i'm dead. suddenly he reaches the edge of lawn at full speed and it's like he hits a wall. he does a backflip, like gymanistics, lands facing other way and barks like a baby. funniest thing i ever saw. i was scared. but the thing worked. if you set them up right, - submitted by davey on 02/04/2007
if you set them up right, invisible fences work 90+% of time. i've seen dogs get so worked up running up to edge and stopping they hyperventilate. do not provoke the dogs, though. if they "lose" it, then can charge through them. i did this once, big mistake, i taunted this large dog, thought it was funny, and he made it through and tackled me. you gotta love invisible - submitted by visionguy on 02/04/2007
you gotta love invisible fences. they're absurd no? what we need are invisible town council members and meter maids and plumbing contractors dog owners who don't control - submitted by dogattacker on 02/04/2007
dog owners who don't control their pets are what ticks me off. i don't care if it's an invisible fence or a 10 foot high barbed wire rimmed electrified kevlar fence. keep the dogs on your properties and keep their poop on your too. do that and we'll all be fine. i think it's a matter of how - submitted by dog fence on 01/29/2008
i think it's a matter of how you use the fence. not all fences are dangerous. Dog Fence I have a wireless fence - submitted by Karenina on 10/14/2008
Sometimes the wired undground fences get cut (from weed eating or mowing to regular wear and tear). I have purchased a wireless router you put inside your house and it gives your dog a 90 ft. radius. Most dogs don't actually "run thru" the fence (though some will), most of the time, the fence has been cut or torn and it stops the entire fence from working. You have to get a whole system to find where the fence is broken before you can fix it. That's why the wireless ones are better. You even get a signal when the battery is going dead in the dogs collar. And please. Don't you people have anything more worthwhile to complain about than a dog pooping in your yard? I mean come on! There are kids starving in Alabama and you're worried about a dog pooping in your yard?? What, are all you people retired with nothing better to do? Get a hobby for crying out loud! What about your cats? - submitted by Kraig on 10/19/2008
Normally good neighbors who like to complain about dogs think nothing about letting their cats run the streets, day or night. One dog poo is in a 6"x6" area. A roaming cat can tear into garbage and spread it in a 4'x4' area. Why do people always complain about dogs and say nothing of the cats? I have triple protection for my dogs (all 5, the neighborhood limit). I have a 6 foot privacy fence with an inner chain link fence and to top it off an invisible fence around both to prevent digging out! I 100% agree that dog owners need to be responsible about ownership. The same applies to cat owners. At least once every two months I have to go into my back yard and pick up a dead cat and of the 15 I have collected every one of them had a collar! 10 of them have been returned to their owners the next morning. Have the same respect for our neighborhood with your can and he/she wouldn't be producing unwanted kittens, tearing into garbage, hit by cars or killed when they stray into my yard. i work for invisible fence, - submitted by Anonymous on 11/20/2008
i work for invisible fence, and i will tell you they do work. In my exp, it is the owners neglecting something like REPLACING THE BATTERIES, or their kids taking off the collar, that causes the dogs to get out. 99.9% of the time anyone who said their invisible fence failed, is from owner error. either from neglect or from terminal stupidity. |
